After discussing my progress and the vacuum cleaner idea with my Master project supervisor, I decided to follow his advice and ideate for the rest of the week to be sure that I am not missing out on other, even better potential concepts. Usually that’s my standard procedure after an initial research phase anyway. I want to try to come up with concepts that match my initial plan to put obsolete products in a new context so their hidden potential is revealed.
To get inspired I started this journey with a trip to a big local charity second hand store (Erikshjälpen) to see how the current landscape of obsolete devices looks like. At the moment, small computer screens, filter coffee machines and sandwich makers seem to be among the hot candidates or let’s rather say luke-warm candidates as they look like catching dust in the shelves.
